    Once recordable, i.e. CDR , DVDR(DVR+R,DVD-R)
    Read-only, i.e. CDROM , VCD , CD , DVDROM , DVD_VIDEO , DVD_AUDIO

According to the capacity and physical speciality optical disc is divided into
CD
DVD

According to the shape optical disc is divided into
    Standard disc: disc diameter is 120mm
    Small round disc: disc diameter is 80mm
    Business card disc: rectangle disc

Types of CD
    CD-ROM:The usage of data file, programme, games and image file
    CD: The usage of music,song and audio related
    VCD: The usage of movie and karaoke

Types of DVD
    DVD-ROM: Read only disc for computer software, similar to CD-ROM
    DVD-Video: Video disc for family use, similar to VCD
    DVD-Audio: Music disc, similar to CD
